In the early 1980’s Hotlix started in a Pismo Beach, California candy store. The original Hotlix is our famous hot cinnamon sucker, which is where our name comes from. The owner had a long history of interest in entomophagy, the practice of eating insects. He introduced our first insect product in 1982, the tequila flavored sucker with a real worm inside. The tequila worm sucker did so well that the line expanded, and the company has been growing ever since. Since the 1980’s Hotlix has introduced scorpion, cricket, ant, and earthworm sweets and Crick-ettes™ and Larvets™ snax. Hotlix utilizes Culinary Grade A insects, on the Edible Insects Grading System EIGS Standards, in all our products!
Our mission is to bring fun to entomophagy, to bring a smile to people’s faces when they see our amazingly colorful and creative insect-based sweets and our savory insect snax.
